rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-02 | 21:00 |
temperature = -8.1 C
Over half the sky is completely covered with clouds. Thin clouds cover the remaining sections. |
rating = 1
Only the brightest stars are visible through the holes in the clouds. The sky is largely unobservable. |
2003-01-03 | 21:10 |
temperature = -2.5 C
It is completely cloudy and snowing. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-06 | 23:20 |
temperature = -3.8 C
The sky is approximately 1/3 completely clouded over. The other 2/3 is covered with thin clouds as well. |
rating = 1
In the parts of the sky where the stars can be seen at all the limiting magnitude is probably no better than 2.5 (very rough estimate). The Pleiades cluster appears to the naked eye as a faint, unresolved ball of fuzz. Jupiter and Saturn are both easily seen, however, and are observable. |
2003-01-07 | 23:10 |
temperature = -5.5 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-08 | 23:45 |

rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-11 | 23:45 |
temperature = -4.1 C
It is cloudy with a few snowflakes falling. |
rating = 1
The first quarter moon is visible through the clouds. Sometimes even it is obscured but at other times it looks like it would be fairly observable. No other objects can be seen, however. |
2003-01-12 | 23:10 |
temperature = -5.1 C
About 80% of the sky is covered with clouds. The sky between the clouds looks quite clear, however. |
rating = 2
The moon is easily visible and a few stars are also visible. Jupiter and Saturn are visible and observable. Although the sky between the clouds looks fairly dark, there isn't much of it. Moonlight is also something of a problem (the moon is just past first quarter). Yet despite the difficulties, some other objects besides the moon and planets might be observable. |
2003-01-13 | 21:30 |
temperature = -7.4 C
About 10% of the sky is covered with clouds; otherwise the sky is nicely clear. |
rating = 3
The moon is a couple of days past first quarter and is generating a lot of light. Sky conditions are generally good aside from that, however. Well away from the moon even faint stars can be seen. |
2003-01-14 | 05:30 |
temperature = -12.5 C
It is beautifully clear (and cold). |
rating = 4
The moon has set and the sky is clear and dark. The limiting magnitude is at least 5 in Cygnus even though it is only a few degrees above the horizon. There is some light pollution along the northern and southeastern horizon. However, deep sky objects are very observable over most of the sky. |
2003-01-14 | 23:00 |
temperature = -14.1 C
It is beautifully clear (and cold). There appears to be some obscuring haze along the southern horizon but the bright moon makes it hard to see exactly how thick or extensive it is. It does not cover a signficant portion of the sky. |
rating = 3
The moon is large and very bright. It is washing out most of the sky. However, the sky is clear and many objects are observable. |
2003-01-15 | 22:45 |
temperature = -8.7 C
A thin layer of clouds covers nearly the entire sky. |
rating = 1
The moon is lighting up the clouds making it very difficult to see anything. No stars are visible, only the moon can be observed. |
2003-01-16 | 23:30 |
temperature = -9.5 C
A thin layer of clouds covers the entire sky. The moon is surrounded by an obvious halo. |
rating = 0
The moon is the only object visible and even it is unsatisfactory. It appears as nothing more than a bright, featureless disk to the naked eye. |
2003-01-17 | 22:45 |
temperature = -17.2 C
It is perfectly clear, but very cold. |
rating = 3
The bright moonlight washes out the sky, but otherwise it looks like a good night (if you don't mind cold). |
2003-01-19 | 23:00 |
temperature = -12.7 C
This sky is covered with a thin layer of clouds. |
rating = 1
No stars are visible. Only the moon and Jupiter can be seen. The moon is producing a very obvious halo. |
2003-01-20 | 23:20 |
temperature = -12.7 C
The sky is about 20% clouded over. The "clear" portions of the sky had some haze as well. |
rating = 2
The brighter stars are visible in the clear portions of the sky. The moon and visible planets are observable as well as bright doubles and similar objects. Deep sky objects would be difficult to observe. |
2003-01-23 | 22:30 |
temperature = -17.3 C
The sky is perfectly clear, but very cold. |
rating = 4
It's a beautiful, moonless night. The limiting magnitude is quite good over most of the sky. There is, however, a noticable degradation of limiting magnitude at altitudes below about 20 degrees. |
2003-01-24 | 22:30 |
temperature = -14.4 C
The sky is perfectly clear. |
rating = 4
It's another beautiful, moonless night. The limiting magnitude is quite good over most of the sky. I did not notice the degradation I saw during last night's observation; I'd say that the conditions tonight are somewhat better than those of last night. |
2003-01-25 | 21:45 |
temperature = -4.9 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-26 | 22:00 |
temperature = -5.8 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-01-27 | 23:00 |
temperature = -20 C
It is perfectly clear, but very cold. No clouds. |
rating = 5
The sky is dark and clear. There is no moon and the limiting magnitude is good even at low elevations. Aside from the cold, it is an excellent night. |
2003-01-31 | 22:00 | It is completely cloudy, but relatively warm. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-02-01 | 22:40 |
temperature = 2.2 C
It is completely cloudy with light snow/sleet falling. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-02-02 | 22:30 |
temperature = 1.4 C
There is a layer of haze over most of the sky. It is thick in some places. |
rating = 3
Quite a few stars are visible. Some parts of the sky show a good limiting magnitude. However, the haze is obscuring significant areas as well. Observing prospects are mixed. |
2003-02-04 | 23:10 |
temperature = -1.2 C
Some thin clouds arecovering parts of the sky; fairly thick in places. |
rating = 3
Patchy clouds are hiding significant parts of the sky to varying degrees. In some areas, however, the clarity is quite good. Many stars are visible. |
2003-02-06 | 22:30 |
temperature = -6.6 C
Clear over most of the sky. Some clouds along the southern horizon. |
rating = 4
The sky is good and dark tonight. There seems to be some haze in the air that prevents the sky from being excellent. However, all object classes are observable. |
2003-02-13 | 22:00 |
temperature = -19.2 C
Completely clear and very cold. |
rating = 3
It's a beautiful night (aside from the cold). However, the bright moon limits the deep sky potential. |
2003-02-14 | 19:15 |
temperature = -16.3 C
Completely clear and very cold. |
rating = 3
It's a beautiful night (aside from the cold). However, the bright moon limits the deep sky potential. The conditions tonight seem to be almost identical to those of last night. |
2003-02-17 | 22:45 |
temperature = -6.9 C
Completely cloudy and snowing. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-02-18 | 22:00 |
temperature = 1.8 C
There are thin clouds or haze covering much of the sky. It's a much warmer night than it has been in a while. |
rating = 2
The nearly full moon is observable. Jupiter is observable. However, only the brightest stars are visible. The limiting magnitude is perhaps 2 at the most. |
2003-02-19 | 22:30 |
temperature = 2.0 C
Clouds cover over 90% of the sky (estimated). There are a few gaps in the clouds toward the northern horizon. |
rating = 0
Only a couple of stars are visible. The sky is essentially unobservable. |
2003-02-20 | 22:30 |
temperature = 1.1 C
The sky is free of clouds in all directions. There seems to be a slight haze in the air, but its effects are slight. |
rating = 4
All object classes are visible. The eastern horizon is unusually light, no doubt from the moon that is due to rise soon. The limiting magnitude over most of the sky is quite reasonable, however. |
2003-02-21 | 23:00 |
temperature = 2.0 C
Couds/haze covering a significant portion of the sky. Some clear areas. |
rating = 2
Limiting magnitude reasonable in some areas. However, most of the sky is obscured to varying degrees. |
2003-02-22 | 21:10 |
temperature = 1.9 C
Completely cloudy with sleet. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-02-23 | 22:10 |
temperature = -3.8 C
Almost completely cloudy with wind. |
rating = 1
Only the brightest stars are visible in a few spots. |
2003-03-01 | 21:10 | The temperature was around freezing. The sky was almost completely covered with clouds. |
rating = 1
A handful of bright stars were visible. Jupiter was obvious and perhaps observable. Overall conditions were quite poor, however. |
2003-03-04 | 22:40 |
temperature = -2.8 C
The sky was completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky was unobservable. |
2003-03-05 | 22:20 |
temperature = -1.7 C
It was a breeze and cloudy night. |
rating = 0
The sky was unobservable; no stars were visible. |
2003-03-06 | 22:30 |
temperature = -15.5 C
It was perfectly clear tonight, but quite cold. |
rating = 4
It was a nice night. All object classes observable. |
2003-03-09 | 21:50 |
temperature = -11.4 C
It was partly cloudy tonight. About 25% of the sky was covered and the sections that were clear of major clouds were hazy. |
rating = 2
A fair number of stars were visible in the clear sections of the sky but nowhere was the sky really dark. The first quarter moon was lighting up the clouds fairly well. The moon, the bright planets, and bright double stars in a limited portion of the sky would be observable. Deep sky objects would not be observable. |
2003-03-10 | 22:30 |
temperature = -11.5 C
It was almost perfectly clear. Only a few clouds existed near the horizon. |
rating = 3
The bright first quarter moon lite up the sky considerably. However, the limiting magnitude was reasonable well away from the moon. Planets and double stars over a range of brightnesses would be observable. |
2003-03-12 | 23:00 |
temperature = -2.4 C
It was completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky was unobservable. |
2003-03-15 | 22:00 |
temperature = -3.1 C
It was clear but there seemed to be a slight haze in the sky. |
rating = 2
The large moon and the slight haze kept visibility low. However, the lack of clouds did allow for a number of observing possibilities. |
2003-03-18 | 23:00 |
temperature = -3.0 C
Perfectly clear. |
rating = 3
The moon was full but otherwise it was a nice night for observing. |
2003-03-20 | 22:40 |
temperature = 1.5 C
Raining heavily. |
rating = 0
The sky was unobservable. |
2003-03-23 | 22:20 |
temperature = 2.5 C
Completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky was unobservable. |
2003-04-06 | 21:10 |
temperature = -3.6 C
It is perfectly clear. No clouds. |
rating = 4
A waxing cresent moon is causing some glow in the west, but it isn't a major problem. There seems to be a slight amount of haze in the air. The limiting magnitude, while good, is not optimal. All object classes observable. |
2003-04-07 | 21:30 |
temperature = -0.6 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-04-09 | 22:30 |
temperature = 0.7 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-04-10 | 22:10 |
temperature = 1.7 C
It is mostly clear with some thin clouds that are particularly noticible around the moon. |
rating = 3
Most object classes are observable although it is not a good night for deep sky objects due to the moonlight. |
2003-04-11 | 22:10 |
temperature = 2.6 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-04-12 | 22:25 |
temperature = 7.7 C
It is almost completely cloudy. There are a couple of small, clearer patches but the sky is fairly well obscured even in them. |
rating = 1
The moon (first quarter) is barely visible through the clouds. A couple of stars are visible in the clearer patches, but since most of the sky is cloudy there is very little to see. |
2003-05-04 | 23:30 |
temperature = 8.4 C
It is perfectly clear. No clouds. |
rating = 4
It's a nice night. The sky clarity is good but it doesn't seem as good as it gets. Limiting magnitude is at least 5. All object classes are observable. |
2003-05-18 | 23:10 |
temperature = 12.1 C
It is perfectly clear. No clouds. |
rating = 4
It's another nice night. Limiting magnitude is at least 5. All object classes are observable. I notice that the Milky Way in Cygnus is somewhat visible despite the fact that Cygnus is only a few degrees above the horizon. |
2003-05-19 | 22:30 |
temperature = 15 C
It is perfectly clear. No clouds. It is also relatively warm. |
rating = 4
It's another nice night very similar to last night. All object classes are observable. |
2003-05-20 | 22:00 |
temperature = 17.8 C
It is almost completely cloudy. It is also quite warm. |
rating = 1
The brightest stars are visible in parts of the sky. However, very little else is visible. Conditions are quite poor. |
2003-05-21 | 23:40 |
temperature = 7.1 C
It is mostly clear. There are some thin clouds along the horizon, particularly to the east. |
rating = 4
Conditions are good. The limiting magnitude over much of the sky is at least 5 (estimated) and probably better. The conditions near the horizon are marginal but observing would be good in most other areas. |
2003-05-22 | 23:45 |
temperature = 11.7 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
This sky is unobservable. |
2003-05-23 | 23:00 |
temperature = 10.3 C
It is completely cloudy and raining. |
rating = 0
This sky is unobservable. |
2003-06-08 | 21:50 |
temperature = 16.2 C
It is rather humid tonight. The sky is quite hazy with some clouds. |
rating = 2
There is considerable haze in the air tonight. The first quarter moon is lighting that haze up and causing rather poor conditions for deep sky observing. In addition a significant fraction of the sky (over 75% at times) is covered with clouds. The moon could be observed as could, perhaps, some doubles. I did not evaluate the seeing conditions. |
2003-06-09 | 22:20 |
temperature = 18.8 C
It is mostly clear with considerably less haze than last night. About 25% of the sky is covered with puffy, fast moving clouds. |
rating = 3
There is a fair amount of moonlight tonight and some clouds, but the viewing in the clear areas is reasonable even so. The moon is observable as would be anything else that does not require a very dark sky. |
2003-06-10 | 21:55 |
temperature = 13.6 C
It is completely cloudy although the moon is shining through the clouds to some extent. |
rating = 1
The moon is somewhat observable (not well). There are no stars visible. |
2003-06-11 | 22:40 |
temperature = 17.6 C
It is very humid with some ground fog. The sky is clear but there is a lot of haze. |
rating = 2
The moon is observable but the limiting magnitude is perhaps only around 2. The very high humidity would make for unpleasent observing at the least. |
2003-06-12 | 22:00 |
temperature = 15.6 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The moon is visible as a bright, featureless disk surrounded by fuzz. It is not observable. No stars are visible. |
2003-06-13 | 21:10 |
temperature = 13.4 C
pressure = 29.4 inHg It is completely cloudy and lightly raining. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. Note that at this time it is still twilight. |
2003-06-14 | 22:40 |
temperature = 15.0 C
pressure = 29.3 inHg It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-06-15 | 23:30 |
temperature = 11.5 C
pressure = 29.6 inHg There are no clouds although there seems to be a bit of low haze or light fog. The haze is only really noticable when one looks to the horizon; it is slight. The temperature feels cool but not cold. |
rating = 4
It is a good night overall although the rising moon did cause quite a bit of light toward the end of my observing session. |
2003-06-16 | 22:20 | There are no clouds and minimal, if any, haze. Like last night the temperature is cool but not cold. |
rating = 4
It is a good night for deep sky observing. The seeing is less than ideal but for wide doubles it is acceptable. |
2003-06-18 | 23:30 |
temperature = 13.4 C
It is clear with some light haze. |
rating = 4
The conditions are good, but not perfect. Although it is clear there is enough of a haze to reduce the limiting magnitude to, perhaps, 5 or so. The Milky Way in Cyg is visible, but not especially well (of course, Cyg is fairly low still). |
2003-06-19 | 22:00 |
temperature = 17.6 C
It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-06-20 | 23:10 |
temperature = 15.0 C
It is clear with some light haze. |
rating = 4
Similar to two days ago, the conditions are good but not perfect. Although it is clear there is enough of a haze to reduce the limiting magnitude to, perhaps, 5 or so. The Milky Way in Cyg is visible, but not especially well. |
2003-06-21 | 22:30 | It is completely cloudy with light rain falling. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-06-22 | 22:30 |
temperature = 18.1 C
pressure = 29.2 inHg It is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-06-25 | 23:00 |
temperature = 21.3 C
pressure = 29.3 inHg It is clear but the humidity is excessive and the sky is quite hazy. |
rating = 1
Significant parts of the sky are completely or almost completely obscured by haze or fog. Stars are visible over about 1/3 of the sky. The limiting magnitude is poor in those regions---I'm estimating 3.5 or 4. Some objects could be observed, but the dew is so heavy that it probably wouldn't be healthy for the equipment to set it up in such conditions. |
2003-06-26 | 23:30 |
temperature = 23.4 C
pressure = 29.1 inHg It is very warm but not as humid as last night. There is some haze in the area that seems to be low to the ground. The sky is clear. |
rating = 4
Conditions are not nearly as bad as last night. The humidity is less and there is almost no dew collecting on the ground. The sky is clear and dark with limiting magnitude > 5 (estimated). There is some haze that is reducing the limiting magnitude somewhat but the effect is fairly minor. The Milky Way in Cyg is visible with some structure. For example, the dark lane near Deneb is visible. |
2003-06-27 | 22:30 | Perfectly clear. The temperature is not too hot nor too cold. The humidity is reasonably low. |
rating = 4
It's a good night. The Milky Way in Cyg is visible with some structure. Limiting magnitude (estimated) is probably in the 5.5 range. |
2003-06-27 | 23:13 | A large cloud bank has moved in since I set up my telescope earlier this evening. |
rating = 1
The spaces between the clouds are still acceptable but by this time almost the entire sky is covered. |
2003-06-28 | 22:30 | It is also perfectly clear. There is a cloud bank along the northern horizon but it does not cause any problems. It is warmer than last night. |
rating = 4
Conditions are good tonight. I estimate the limiting magnitude at perhaps 5.5. The Milky Way is visible in Cyg but it is not the best I've seen. |
2003-06-29 | 21:35 |
temperature = 22.8 C
pressure = 29.5 inHg There are thin clouds over much of the sky and a few thick cloud masses around the horizon (in most directions). |
There is considerable twilight still at this hour but conditions do not look like they will be particularly good. There are enough clouds around the sky to obscure a significant majority of the stars (even when it finally gets dark). |
2003-07-01 | 23:15 |
temperature = 16.1 C
There is not a cloud in the sky. The temperature is cool and the humidity is reasonable. |
rating = 5
It's an excellent night. The Milky Way in Cyg exhibits complex structure to the naked eye with many dark lanes visible using averted vision. The Sct and Sgr star clouds are especially impressive. Dark lanes are also visible in the Lac region. I don't recall ever noticing that before. I think this is the best night I've seen so far this year. |
2003-07-02 | 22:35 |
temperature = 19.1 C
pressure = 29.4 inHg It is perfectly clear. However, it is distinctly warmer and more humid than last night. |
rating = 4
Overall the sky is good tonight but not nearly as good as last night. Deep sky objects could be effectively observed. |
2003-07-03 | 22:30 |
temperature = 21 C
The sky is covered with a thin layer of clouds. It is warm and somewhat humid. |
rating = 1
Only the brightest stars are visible (Vega, Deneb). The thin cresent moon is visible but it is very red and dimmed. (It is also close to the horizon). |
2003-07-04 | 22:35 |
temperature = 22.7 C
pressure = 29.0 inHg The sky is partly cloudy. Perhaps 1/3 of the sky is covered with clouds of various thicknesses. It is warm tonight. |
rating = 3
The clouds are definitely enough to interfere with observing. However, the conditions in the space between the clouds are good. The limiting magnitude in those regions exceeds 5 and might be closer to 5.5 (estimated). |
2003-07-05 | 22:15 |
temperature = 23.6 C
pressure = 29.0 inHg The sky is mostly covered with fish-scale type clouds. |
rating = 1
The sky is mostly unobservable. There are a few stars visible between the clouds at zenith, but not many. |
2003-07-06 | 23:40 |
temperature = 18.7 C
The sky is well covered with thin, whispy clouds. It is significantly cooler than last night. |
rating = 2
There are some nice clear areas between the clouds. The limiting magnitude in those clear areas is quite good. However, most of the sky is covered to some degree with clouds so the opportunities for good observing are limited. |
2003-07-07 | 23:10 |
temperature = 21.7 C
It is completely cloudy with intermitent rain. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-08 | 22:05 |
temperature = 21.8 C
There is cloud cover over the entire sky. |
rating = 1
The brightest stars (Vega, Altair) are visible through the clouds, but not much else. The moon is observable. |
2003-07-09 | 23:55 |
temperature = 13.8 C
pressure = 29.4 inHg The sky is perfectly clear. The air is unseasonably cool. |
rating = 3
There is a large moon to the southwest (behind trees at my site) and it is having a significant impact on the sky. However, conditions are decent. I am able to see the Milky Way in Cyg, although not spectacularly. |
2003-07-14 | 23:35 |
temperature = 17.3 C
The sky is perfectly clear. There is some haze. |
rating = 3
There is a nearly full moon causing a great deal of sky glow. |
2003-07-15 | 23:10 |
temperature = 22.2 C
pressure = 29.4 inHg The sky is almost completely cloudy. There are a few small clear patches, but not of significance. It is fairly breezy. |
rating = 1
The sky is essentially unobservable. |
2003-07-16 | 22:45 |
temperature = 19.2 C
The sky is completely cloudy. It is raining lightly. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-18 | 22:05 |
temperature = 15.8 C
The sky is mostly cloudy. |
rating = 1
About 75% of the sky is covered with clouds. In the remaining 25% only the brightest stars are visible. |
2003-07-19 | 22:30 |
temperature = 16.5 C
pressure = 29.4 inHg The sky is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-20 | 23:10 |
temperature = 18.7 C
The sky is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-21 | 22:30 |
temperature = 20.7 C
The sky is completely cloudy. It is raining. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-22 | 23:55 |
temperature = 19.0 C
The sky is completely cloudy. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
2003-07-23 | 22:45 |
temperature = 20.0 C
The sky is almost completely cloudy. At the zenith Vega and few other bright stars are visible. It is also extremely humid tonight. |
rating = 1
No serious observing can be done in any part of the sky. |
2003-07-25 | 23:25 |
temperature = 18.0 C
The sky is perfectly clear. The humidity seems high but there is not much haze in the sky. |
rating = 4
It's an excellent night. The Milky Way in Cyg is nicely visible. Limiting magnitude must be greater than 5.5. All types of objects are open to observation. This is the first reasonable night since 2003-07-14! |

There is one clear patch through which a handful of stars are visible. However, an overwhelming majority of the sky is cloudy. To the south the clouds are well illuminated by the moon. |
2003-09-17 | 23:35 |
temperature = 11.8 C
There are some thin clouds covering significant sections of the sky, particularly to the south. Other portions, particularly the north and the zenith, are clear. |
rating = 3
Conditions are good to very good in places. Cas, Per, and Cyg/Lac are all very observable. The Milky Way in Cyg is bright and easy to see. However, other parts of the sky are quite unsatisfactory. There is a good deal of "fuzz" around Mars and the Peg/Psc area is almost devoid of stars. |

The sky is unobservable. One star is visible to the northeast, near the horizon. |
2003-10-04 | 22:45 |
temperature = 5.5 C
Partly cloudy. The ground is quite wet due to steady rainfall during the day and early evening. |
rating = 3
About 50% of the sky is covered with clouds. However, the clear areas are reasonably nice. The moon is near first quarter and it is lighting up the clouds to the south west. Yet the sky to the north east, especially, is observable. The limiting magnitude in the good regions is probably better than 4.0. |
2003-10-10 | 22:10 |
temperature = 11.9 C
It is clear tonight but there is some light ground fog. The temperature is unseasonably warm and the humidity is quite high. There is a lot of dew forming on the ground. |
rating = 2
Although there are no clouds to see, the full moon is washing out the sky to a large degree (the effect is amplified by the light fog). The sky actually appears slightly blue and not grey as is more typical with a full moon. The brightest stars are visible, but not much else. |
2003-10-13 | 22:50 |
temperature = 6.6 C
It is beautifully cool and clear tonight. |
rating = 3
The waning gibbous moon is well above the horizon and washing out a significant portion of the sky. However, the clear weather allows quite a few stars to be seen. In regions of the sky far from the moon the conditions are even somewhat dark. However, the Milky Way is not visible tonight. |
2003-10-16 | 06:10 |
temperature = 2.7 C
It is perfectly clear. |
rating = 2
The last quarter moon is high in the sky and morning twilight is well underway. However, despite that quite a few stars are visible. The outlines of most constellations can be easily seen as well as many fainter stars. Saturn, in Gemini, is high in the sky and Jupiter, in Leo, is high enough to observe. All in all, it's a fairly decent morning. |
2003-10-16 | 22:40 |
temperature = 6.7 C
The sky is about 50% covered with clouds. The regions between the clouds, however, are quite clear. |
rating = 3
The light from the moon is starting to show itself on the clouds in the east. However, overall the sky is nicely dark and the viewing between the clouds is quite good. The limiting magnitude there is probably greater than 5th. |
2003-10-27 | 18:20 |
temperature = 12.4 C
It is completely cloudy and raining steadily. The temperature is unseasonably warm. |
rating = 0

2003-11-01 | 21:15 |
temperature = 12.4 C
pressure = 29.6 inHg It is unseasonably warm tonight. It is also completely cloudy. The underside of the clouds appeared textured so they do not form a uniform blanket but there are no clear spots to be seen. |

Tonight is the night of the full moon. However, the moon is being eclipsed and at the time of this observation the eclipse is in totality. As a result, the sky is quite dark and very observable. The Milky Way is easily visible even in Cas, only a few degrees from the moon. |
2003-12-11 | 20:00 |
temperature = 5.6 C
pressure = 28.5 inHg It is unseasonably warm, totally cloudy, and raining lightly. It has been raining heavily most of the day and there has been some localized flooding (due to snowmelt on top of the rain). At the moment, however, the rain seems to be less than it has been. |
rating = 0
The sky is unobservable. |
